Promega UK Young Life Scientist Award

Kerstin VoelzMiss Kerstin Voelz, working in Dr Robin May's laboratory, recently scooped second prize in Promega's Yound Life Scientist awards.  Kerstin wins £1,000 in cash and £1,000 of Promega Products, a one-year subscription to Science Magazine, and membership of the Genetics Society or Biochemical Society.

The new look Promega UK Young Life Scientist Awards for 2009 were successfully launched at the Young Life Scientists’ Symposium at the Bristol Council House on Thursday 14th May 2009.

Promega invited 6 finalists to the awards, selected from over 150 initial entrants, and were overwhelmed by the standard of their research, presentation skills, knowledge and competency within their chosen fields.

Kerstin's title was: Cytokine signalling regulates the outcome of intracellular macrophage parasitism by the fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans.
